LONELY JAKE is a one man band, playing BLUES, BOOGIE, ROCKIN’ BLUES..

 

The most important inspiration is the sound & the style from MISSISSIPPI. 

A touch of NORTH HILL COUNTRY BLUES (R.L Burnside, Fred McDowell), a touch of COUNTRY BLUES (John Lee Hooker, Lightnin’ Hopkins), a touch of GOSPEL & WORK SONGS, a touch of ROCKIN’BLUES & BOOGIE (Slim Harpo), & a touch of COUNTRY & Early ROCK’N’ROLL (Elvis, Hank Williams)…

But lot of original songs recorded during a travel around the MISSISSIPPI for a 1st album.

 

1st album BLUES NEVER LIES' is a very particular project by JAKE CALYPSO Recorded on the 'Mississippi' roads with just a guitar or harmonica between October 7 and 23th, 2016.

The project was born during the pendemic times in the world. The album 'BLUES NEVER LIES' was released in the same time. During the lockdown, LONELY JAKE did lot of Facebook live' for the BLUES lovers & an audience behind the screen. And then, it took the road for several gigs in local Juke Joints & several BLUES festivals, playing OFF (Beautiful Swamp Blues Festival Calais - Blues Autour Du Zinc Beauvais - Sam Blues Festival Méricourt - Boogie Around The Shack Manin)

October 2022, LONELY JAKE traveled to MISSISSIPPI & MEMPHIS. The right time & the right place to record an album with musicians from BEALE STREET & another French Blues buddy : Stephane Bihan. 12 Rhythm & Blues in memory of the early 50's Sun Records times was recorded under the name of THE MEMPHIS BLUES CREAM.  Now Stephane & LONELY JAEK have considered to play these songs together on stage, with a new duet : LONELY JAKE COMBO !   Stay tuned, perhaps a brand new album could be on the tracks !
